Acrylic pearls on specially-prepared pearlized canvas

Las Vegas is a town of celebration and "Premier" is completely Vegas-inspired. Premier is my third figurative painting for 2012, and features the beautiful Jess Robinson as my muse. Premier is created in pearl black and red. She color shifts from soft red to bright red as the day's light changes.

Wine colored acrylic pearls on specially-prepared pearlized canvas

A festive celebration for a new beginning. Her light is borne of beauty and joy for what lies before her. There is only now.

Bold and powerful with a zest for life! Jubilee celebrates that and more. She is beauty and wine inspired with a radiance that glistens in energy.

Jubilee is my second figurative painting for 2012, and features the beautiful Kim as my muse. She modeled for me in 2007, and I've wanted to create a powerful artwork inspired by her energy since then. This painting celebrates my 50 years of life and appreciation of true beauty (I'll turn 51 by time my next painting is completed).

Created in beautiful pearl metallic wine tints over a pearl white/gold hand brushed base layered on a specially-prepared canvas surface. Metallic mediums mixed into my paints create a glistening effect with the changing light. This combination of colors and effects creates a new experience with each viewing. In this painting she is portrayed about 1-1/2 times life-size.

Blue acrylic pearls on specially-prepared pearlized canvas

Ascending out of water and stone to a new world. Ascendant, my first figurative painting for 2012, features the beautiful art model Liz Ashley. We did a photo shoot in Las Vegas, NV in 2008 together. This is my third painting of Liz. The others include Luxe and Ardor.

Ascendant is about the beauty and symmetry of the ascension process from a world of water and stone to the next world. Encoded in the artwork are many alchemical refernces. Elements and dimensions point to the migration to a higher level - the next evolution of thought and form.

What kind of a dream is it,' said Óðinn,
in which just before daybreak,
I thought I cleared Valhǫll,
for coming of slain men?

I waked the Einherjar,
bade valkyries rise up,
to strew the bench,
and scour the beakers,
wine to carry,
as for a king's coming,
here to me I expect
heroes' coming from the world,
certain great ones,
so glad is my heart.

I finished off my 2011 creative year in the studio with a special painting featuring Las Vegas celebrity Brandy Beavers, created back-to-back as a follow up to Avalon. Valhalla is painted in a beautiful blue-green combination that glistens and changes throughout the day and from different perspectives. Approach her from the right and she is green on a gold background. View her from the left and she turns a darker blue on a silver background.
