My ACEO Journey

My story began a long time ago. I have always drawn, or sketched, doodled, whatever, since I was just a kid. If there were a pencil and paper, I was drawing.

When buying from an artist, you buy more than just an object or painting. You are buying hundreds of hours of failures and experimentation. You are buying days, weeks & months of pure joy. YOU AREN’T JUST BUYING A THING; you’re buying a piece of heart, part of a soul, a moment of someone’s life. Most importantly, you’re buying the artist more time to do something they are passionate about.

When I was young, my family moved a lot, and much of my childhood meant that the five of us were often living in camping trailers. That meant space was limited, but I always managed to find a way to draw.

Later, as my creative skills developed, my art grew larger, to the point where I had painted countless supersized murals in schools, businesses, people’s homes, and later, the Hollywood Video stores. After five years painting celebrated icons, I moved on. I began painting epic motorcycle and automotive artworks, each measuring between twelve and forty square feet. Later, I started a series of life-size, realistic fine art nudes on canvas and metal inspired by amazing models.

While I still enjoy creating epic artworks, over the past few years, I’ve returned more to my roots and downsized some of my art, from full-blown mega murals to miniature original artworks.

Friends, followers, and collectors know that I love creating significant artworks, but few are aware of how much I enjoy creating artworks on a smaller scale. It’s rare for me to go anywhere without a sketchpad.

For a long while, I carried a 7″ x 10″ pad in my car; later, I switched to a 5″ x 7-1/2″ pad, which is a nice size for drawing, and most lately, I carry a 4″ x 6″ pad because it fits nicely in my back pocket.

Recently, I’ve been fascinated by the lore of ACEO Cards, which have gained popularity among collectors of small, original artworks. ACEO Cards are miniature, specifically measuring 2.5″ x 3.5″ (64mm x 89mm). ACEOs are also known as “Art Cards, Editions, and Originals,” which are created as one-of-a-kind originals. They are popular among art collectors due to their small size and affordability.
