Even in a Prime World, Christ Is the True Gift
Twas the night before Christmas and the house was a mess,
Our Christmas Eve party had been a roaring success.
Voices still echoed with laughter and cheer,
And the eggnog kept flowing like holiday beer.
The kids played Nintendo, “Rudolph Hides the sleigh”,
While adults shared old stories of back in the day.
The hope was that sometime we’d all head to bed,
Though sugar-high children were still wide-eyed instead.
When the kids finally settled and stopped texting their friends,
I had a vision of night with a gleeful and joyous end.
(’Tis the season of miracles, why limit the scope?
Santa’s not the only one working off hope!)
But speaking of Santa, oh my, what a sight,
He’d upgraded his sleigh for more accurate flight.
With Rudolph assisting his Amazon coordination,
The whole North Pole now ran on prime optimization.
Eight tiny reindeer were still part of the team,
And the sleigh with its GPS soared like a dream.
He zoomed ‘cross the country, no wrong turns at all,
Not even in Kansas, where roads disappear every fall.
Now Amazon handled the bulk of the haul,
But Santa still stopped at the houses where love shone through all.
At homes full of kindness, belief, and good cheer,
He left handwritten notes highlighting their impact all year.
Oh yes, Santa’s magical key still unlocked every door,
Turning off security systems from ceiling to floor.
And as he delivered his message of joy,
He gathered all cookies, each crumb he’d deploy,
With holiday sparkle and Christmastime grace,
He would transport them instantly to a child in some place
Where sweetness was rare and treats seldom appear,
A quiet reminder of love drawing near.
And now Santa leaves photos, his jolly old self,
Still in sparkling red suit, still a generous elf.
Though slimmer and trimmer from Christmas-week pacing,
The man looks fantastic, his Fitbit is racing.
Before he blasts off in a twinkling gleam,
He whispers to each of us deep in our dream:
“Merry Christmas, dear heart… Christ loves you so. May kindness and joy follow everywhere you go.”
