Ellis Island Casino & Brewery was the place to be last evening if you like cold brews and BBQ, as they hosted BrewBQ to benefit Three Square Food Bank here in Las Vegas.
Saturday, May 17, 8 to 11 pm — Ellis Island Casino & Brewery hosted BrewBQ, presented by Eat Drink & Repeat and Las Vegas Sin City Beer Festival at Elis Island Casino, and was a great gathering of beer lovers for a premier beer-tasting event. The Las Vegas Brew & BBQ Festival features the #1 BBQ in all of Las Vegas, voted year and year again, along with some of the world’s best beers and local brews. Beer, food samples, and a silent auction rounded out the fun.
I always enjoy discovering a new beer or liquor at these fests. There were several beers represented that I had never tried before, and really, you can only sample so many anyway. So, it’s always great when you find something new that you really like…
Rieder XXX Weise Is a supercharged Hefeweizen which is equal to a Weizen Bock beer. Alc. 6.5% by Vol
The Rieder XXX Weise did that for me. This Weizenbock is described as a strong, dark wheat beer. Weizenbocks typically have a high ester profile, with more malt and alcohol than is typically associated with a wheat beer. I’m definitely no beer expert. I know what I like, and I really enjoyed this beer.

A nice selection of tequilas was on hand. Dirty Tequila shared its tasty blue agave silver tequila, which has cinnamon, pineapple, and other fruit flavors, sweeteners, and agave nectar, making for a uniquely smooth, delicious tequila. I’ll take mine on the rocks, please.
Coco Cafe
Speaking of delicious. A beautiful lady was sharing Coco Cafe, an electrolyte-stacked drink of coconut water, and Cafe Latte as an alternative to beer and alcohol. I followed her suggestion and enjoyed a couple of these throughout the evening. I found them refreshing, so she gifted me a couple of samples. I started my morning off with one today. I’m hooked.
3 Point Tequila.
“You don’t need to be a pro to take a shot,” said the guys at 3 Point Tequila. I’m no pro, so I took two. 3-Point Tequila Silver is a 100% agave tequila created from the finest Blue Agave Tequilana Weber selection. It’s an awesome tequila created by former UNLV basketball players.

BrewBQ featured a great selection of participating brewers pouring full-pint tastings. There was also great food and barbecue, live entertainment by country-western singers, and a slightly “heavier” rock band. All great ingredients for a celebration of beer for a worthy cause.

I hadn’t really been to the Ellis Island Casino & Brewery before, so this was a great chance to check it out. They have a lot of great going there, including a 24-hour restaurant (which I’ve heard great things about), in-house micro-brewery, karaoke lounge, Metro Pizza, and free parking. You can find them one block east of the Las Vegas Strip on Koval Lane behind Bally’s. Check ’em out next time you’re in Vegas.

This event benefited the Three Square Food Bank in Las Vegas. Their goal is to feed 10,000 hungry people with the proceeds from BrewBQ. Proceeds from the event are used to purchase supplies for food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, after-school programs, senior citizens, and others. Where Ellis Island Casino and Brewery currently sits was originally named the Village Pub, which opened in 1968.
Although they started small, they are one of Las Vegas’s most recognized properties, with 12 locations serving the Las Vegas and Henderson valley for over 40 years now. They are the number one brewery in the state of Nevada, serving over a million glasses of happiness a year. They were voted the #1 Brewery in Nevada and the Mountain West Region and #9 in the USA by the National Brewer’s Association.
