The LUSTER: Realism and Hyperrealism in Contemporary Automobile and Motorcycle Paintings exhibit opened its doors in Las Cruces, New Mexico, at the Museum of Art yesterday. This highly anticipated showcase will run impressively through August 16th, 2025, allowing art enthusiasts and the general public ample time to experience the intricate and striking depictions of vehicles within the realms of both realism and hyperrealism.
It doesn’t get better than hot meals and hot wheels! While I’ve heard about this exciting monthly event for quite some time, this was my first excursion to the renowned Penske Racing Museum at the Penske Auto Mall in Scottsdale, AZ, for their popular Cars & Coffee monthly car show. This event celebrates an impressive array of amazing cars, drawing in enthusiasts and casual attendees alike. The atmosphere buzzed with enthusiasm as car lovers gathered to admire the stunning displays, making it an unforgettable experience.

I learned about yesterday’s HOT CARS & COFFEE™ only the evening before when a friend shared it with me and asked if I was going. After a quick peek at their Facebook post, it only took me a nanosecond to commit. Hey, I like hot cars, and I love my morning coffee. I’m hooked on both so I had to go.

The Painthuffer Metalflake Art Night Live last Saturday was an unforgettable and exhilarating experience that truly rocked the house and filled every corner with excitement! It has been quite a while since I last dropped in on a brush bash event. During this remarkable evening, I almost forgot how much I genuinely enjoyed the excellent company of a few incredibly talented airbrush friends with whom I had the pleasure of connecting and reconnecting. The vibrant atmosphere, buzzing conversations, and creative energy were inspiring, making the night unforgettable to remember and cherish for years to come.

I’ve been looking forward to checking out the JUNK IN THE TRUNK Vintage + Artisan Market event for some time, ever since local artist and event owner, Nash, mentioned it a while back. You may remember Nash from a post I did last August, where I shared his art as part of American Artist Appreciation Month.
I’ve been an avid Steve Martin fan since I first heard his stand-up comedy album, Let’s Get Small, in 1977. Later, I would catch him on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and Saturday Night Live performing his stand-up and funny skits. Later, as he transitioned into movies, I enjoyed watching his stories unfold in The Jerk, LA Story, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, and others from his long list of film accomplishments. And while I was painting murals for the Hollywood Video retail chain, I even painted a couple featuring him, including “Staring Steve Martin,” in 1992, which won a national mural competition.
World Art Day is celebrated every year on April 15, a date that has become significant in recognizing the value and diversity of art worldwide. People from various countries and cultures have unique ideas of what art truly is, and this day serves as a reminder of the rich tapestry of artistic expression in our world.
