What a great way to explore airplanes and discover all there is to offer at the Chandler Municipal Airport for the return of its community open house, Airport Day. This annual event not only showcases the latest in aviation technology but also celebrates the rich history of flight in our community.
As an airplane fan, I couldn’t resist the chance to check out a variety of aviation beauties. The thrill of being close to such incredible machines and meeting their passionate owners was truly unforgettable.
The free event offers the public a behind-the-scenes look at one of the nation’s busiest general aviation airports and the important role it plays in the Chandler community and the national airspace system.
Airport Day brings together aviation enthusiasts, families, and the simply curious for a day of discovery and fun.
It’s an excellent opportunity for kids and adults alike to engage with aviation through hands-on activities and interactive exhibits. Guests experienced the opportunity to view a wide variety of static aircraft and helicopter displays — from vintage and military aircraft to experimental builds and private, small jets.
The music selection was great as well, with AZ Mix Masters playing a list of classic rock hits.
Special guest Karyn F. Kink (Author, Photographer, Speaker) was there with her stunning 1932 Chinese Nanchang C36A. Her stunning aircraft was a highlight for many, drawing attention with its bright yellow and grey color scheme.
Karyn specializes in Aerial Photography, air-to-air photography, formation flying for pilots and organizations, and proceeds are donated to education funding. Her work shines a spotlight on the beauty and complexities of aviation, enhancing our appreciation for flight. ( Visit her LinkedIn profile to learn more )
The new mobile Chandler Discovery Library was on-site for visitors to explore. This innovative resource brought a wealth of knowledge about literature and technology to the event, sparking curiosity among attendees.
In addition, Chandler Police and Fire Departments hosted information booths and vehicle displays, along with other local aviation organizations.
Several food trucks were on hand for a great selection of delicious dishes.
