It's always a treat to share Jerry Blank's art and creative endeavors. Recently, he's teamed up with Oscar Martinez in Las Vegas to create a new music-inspired series.
JO is an amalgamation, a fusion, a blend of the talents of Oscar Martinez and Jerry Blank, like Rodgers, who composed the Music, and Hammerstein, who wrote the lyrics. Martinez and Blank fuse their talents to create a new creative force called JO.
Martinez’s extensive experience in concept, art direction, marketing, and sales integrates beautifully with Blank’s background in design, art direction, and painting—the result: a fresh, creative body of work with the emphasis on Music.
Oscar, born in Havana, Cuba, in 1955, moved with his family to Miami Beach at age four. Oscar developed a passion for sports, dance, fashion, and music. Oscar’s father, a prominent artist, inspired Oscar to get into the art scene. Moving to Las Vegas, he became an expert in all phases of the art business: sales, publishing, serving as a gallery director, and owning several galleries. Now, he’s adding his inspiration and experience to a new adventure with Jerry Blank— The Art of Music by JO.
Jerry Blank, a graduate of San Jose State University with a B.S. in Industrial Design, had a design and marketing firm in the San Francisco Bay Area for over thirty-five years. In 2000, Jerry took a year-long sabbatical to Paris to indulge his painting skills. Returning to San Jose, he had his first art show. In 2001, he moved to Las Vegas, where he continued painting, practicing graphic design, and opening Bluestone Gallery in Henderson. Today, with twenty-five years of painting under his belt, he is now collaborating with Oscar Mar+nez to create an exciting new body of work– The Art of Music by JO.
